Coronavirus Updates: Rebates and Small Businesses
On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, my office will host a webinar for small businesses in Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District.
In addition, I wanted to highlight that certain Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients must update their information by tomorrow, April 22, 2020 in order to receive their full economic impact payment authorized in the CARES Act. You must take action if you–
- are a Social Security retirement, survivors, and/or disability insurance beneficiary;
- did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019; and
- have eligible child dependents (under age 17)
You should immediately visit the IRS’s webpage at https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here and visit the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here section to provide their information. If you do not update your information by April 22, 2020, you will not be able to receive the additional funds ($500 per child dependent) in your rebate check until you file your taxes next year. Please note that SSI recipients will need to take this action by later this month; the IRS will provide a specific date soon.
It is very important that everyone remains healthy and calm by following the guidance and safety precautions outlined by health professionals and local authorities. We must continue to support and care for each other, and together we will prevail.
