Rededication of MLK Federal Building
On January 14, 2011, Congressman Lewis joined Reverend Joseph Lowery, Andrew Young, Martin Luther King III, and other community leaders to rededicate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Federal Building in Atlanta. The rededication ceremony culminated an extensive renovation of the building. The building was originally named for Dr. King as a result of legislation that Congressman Lewis introduced and guided through Congress; It was the first federal building in our nation to be named for Dr. King.
