When it comes to the reality of daily life in America, when parents are sacrificing time with their families, I look at the taxes people are paying and want better for Georgia and better for our country.
Like the annual budget, the tax code is a statement of our values. I believe that our tax code should reflect our values. Our tax code should reflect the American values of fairness and opportunity. It should express not only our priorities for today, but also our priorities for the future. After all, it is our responsibility to future generations to leave this country a little better than we found it.
I am a senior member of the House Committee on Ways and Means and Chairman of its Subcommittee on Oversight. From these positions, I work hard to ensure that our tax code is fair and equitable. Too many people seem prepared to shift the burden of taxes and government onto hardworking American families and small businesses. I will not stand for that. We are all Americans and we all benefit from her resources so we must all pay our fair share.
